BOZEMAN – The Montana State Bobcats are getting two big additions to their football program, one coming from the powerhouse ACC.

Jahcque Alleyne, a defensive back from Virginia Tech, has signed on with the Bobcats. Alleyne played 16 games with the Hokies in two seasons. He left the program after head coach Frank Beamer retired. The Cats are landing a big talent, as Alleyne was offered by Louisville, Oregon and West Virginia before choosing Virginia Tech.

“Jahcque played both safety and corner in high school, so he has versatility,” said Bobcat coach Jeff Choate in a press release. “He was highly recruited out of high school, but he left the Hokies after the coaching change, and he’s worked hard to get himself into position to contribute to the Bobcats. He’ll provide immediate depth and competition in the defensive backfield.”

The Bobcats got some depth at quarterback, as well, signing Ruben Beltran, an incoming freshman from Peoria, Ariz.

“Ruben is a competitor with a high football IQ,” Choate said. “He will join us with a chip on his shoulder and is eager to compete at the quarterback position right away.”

Beltran attended Centennial High School where he led his team to a state championship.
